Shaffer Band is a country-pop band based in the breath-taking mountains of Belington, West Virginia. The group consists of Dave Shaffer (keys, guitar & vocals), his wife Trish (vocals), their daughter Cassie (bass guitar, sax, & lead vocals) and her husband Mike Hymes (drums) Shaffer Band has an amazing way of appealing to all ages! Lead singer Cassie Shaffer-Hymes’ powerful vocals, combined with natural family harmonies, fuse perfectly with the energy of a live band, creating a unique sound that will grab your attention from the start. Unlike many artists, what you hear recorded is what you get live! Their varied song selection, unique blend of country and worship and Cassie’s warm stage presence immediately draw in and captivate the audience. Shaffer Band has been performing professionally since 2000, garnering national attention and opening for Grammy Award winning and nominated artists such as country superstars Sugarland, the Crabb Family, 4Him and Point of Grace, among others, as well as opening for national speaker and pastor Rod Parsley on multiple occasions. They have gained recognition on the Singing News Top 80 Chart with earlier songs like Calvary Changed My Destiny, God Will Deliver Me, I Believe, and their latest Top 40 hit, He Ain’t The Leavin’ Kind, which climbed to #27! Shaffer Band has released two concept music videos since 2012. The first, I Believe, was self-penned by lead vocalist Cassie and was accompanied by a second, more intimate video of Cassie sharing her personal testimony. The second video, Love Can’t Walk Away, featured a duet with Adam Crabb and was released in March of 2013. Shaffer Band’s music is saturated with themes of hope, healing and restoration for good reason, as they have definitely experienced the faithfulness of God in their own lives. In 2007 and 2008, Cassie was diagnosed with cancer. The ensuing months both tested her faith and drew her family closer together than ever before. Now Cassie is cancer free, giving her a powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness that inspires audiences everywhere. They feel that this was a turning point in for their ministry! “We realize that through the trials that we’ve faced, it has brought us to a deeper relationship with God resulting in a more effective ministry,” Cassie says. “We recognize that it is even more important to spread the good news and hope of Jesus Christ to others because no one knows what their future holds.” Shaffer Band has recorded six projects since 2004. Their latest album, Grateful, was released in July, 2012, and is on Willow Creek Records Nashville. Shaffer Band feels that this project defines them as artists. Grateful contains 10 songs, including recent hits, He Ain’t the Leavin’ Kind, Love Can’t Walk Away, Waiting Here for You, and the title track, Grateful. The songs on the album were penned by some of the industry’s greatest writers, including Don Poythress (Willie Nelson, Easton Corbin, Tim McGraw), Neil Thrasher (Rascall Flatts, Kenny Chesney), Michael Dulaney (Jason Aldean, Montgomery Gentry), Barry Weeks (Kelly Clarkson, 33 Miles), Sue Smith (Avalon, Travis Cottrell), Carl Cartee (Laura Story, Big Daddy Weave), Chad Cates (Bebo Norman, Casting Crowns), Tony Wood (Mandisa, Phillips, Craig & Dean, The Museum), as well as Christian music industry veterans Chris Tomlin, Martin Smith of Delirious, Scott Krippayne and Ian Eskelin. Several of the songs on their albums have been co-written by Cassie Shaffer-Hymes, including You Are My God, from Grateful, which was written by Cassie and Lee Black (Brian Free & Assurance, Talley Trio). Grateful showcases diverse but cohesive variety of styles that will reach all demographics! The project was recorded at TMC’s Studio A and the Terry T Room in Nashville, TN, and was produced by award-winning Producer/Engineer, Terry Thompson (Crabb Family, Michael English, Boots Randolph).
